“I Didn’t Learn to Read Until I Was 28.”
That’s how Ron Williams - The G.O.A.T. of natural body building- begins his story — and from that moment, you know this conversation is different.
Ron is a world-renowned motivational speaker, inventor with four patents, and the author of Faith and Fat Loss. He’s also a 21-time world champion and seven-time Natural Mr. Universe — the undisputed GOAT of natural bodybuilding.
But what makes his story extraordinary isn’t the trophies or titles — it’s the transformation. Ron’s journey moves from trauma to triumph, from abuse to purpose, from illiteracy to international impact.
The Childhood That Tried to Break Him
Ron grew up in chaos. Dyslexic, homeless at times, and moved from one abusive environment to another, he describes himself as a “feral child” who learned to survive by making noise just to get kicked out of class — anything to hide the fact that he couldn’t read.
“I didn’t realize I wasn’t dumb,” he says. “I just had problems the other kids didn’t face.”
He carried the weight of rejection, feeling unwanted by both parents. “I thought something was wrong with me — that I was unworthy of love.”
Those scars followed him for decades, even after he became a decorated athlete and public figure.
Fighting Demons — Literally and Spiritually
When Ron joined the military, he found an outlet for his anger in boxing — but even then, pain followed him. “I had triggers,” he recalls. “I’d blackout in fights and wake up wishing I hadn’t done what I did.”
A captain saw his potential and channeled that aggression into the boxing ring, a decision Ron believes saved his life. He won the Georgia Golden Gloves and began to realize that discipline could become healing.
Still, his victories didn’t bring peace.
“When I won Mr. Universe,” Ron says, “it was the saddest day of my life. I thought that title would finally silence the voices that said I wasn’t enough. But instead, I felt emptier than ever.”
The Encounter That Changed Everything
Rock bottom came one night when Ron heard a voice say, “I am going to take your life.”He fell to his knees and cried out to God — and that moment, he says, God showed up.
“He told me, ‘You’re fighting an enemy you can’t defeat. Only the Holy Spirit can help you win.’”
Ron gave his life to Christ that night. What followed was transformation — body, mind, and spirit. He learned to read by starting with the hardest book possible: the Bible.
“I thought I was learning to read,” Ron laughs, “but I had the best tutor in the world.”
From Armor to Purpose
Bodybuilding had been his armor — a way to keep people from getting close. But faith stripped that armor away and rebuilt him from the inside out.
Ron realized that transformation wasn’t about the physical body; it was about the renewing of the mind.
“Being born again happens in your spirit,” he says. “Transformation happens in your soul — your mind, emotion, and will.”
Pain Becomes a Platform
Today, Ron Williams travels the world sharing his testimony — teaching faith, fitness, and mindset to audiences everywhere. His message is simple but powerful:
“Change a person’s mind, you change their life.”
His story reminds us that faith doesn’t erase pain — it redeems it. That even the hardest seasons can become the foundation for purpose.
The Jabronis’ Takeaway
For JB, Juice, and BMoney, this episode wasn’t just another conversation — it was a masterclass in redemption.
“Ron’s life proves that no past is too broken for God to restore,” JB shares. “This was one of the most powerful testimonies we’ve ever had on the show.”
