As JB puts it, “From mountaintops to mud holes — Eddie has seen it all.” What unfolds is a raw conversation about loyalty, leadership, betrayal, and belief, from one of the most controversial and ultimately vindicated figures in modern military history.

⚓ From Wrong Turns to War Zones

Eddie’s journey began not as a lifelong dream, but as a wake-up call. After finding himself “one foot in prison,” he walked into a Navy recruiting office with little idea of what awaited him. What followed was a brutal climb through the ranks — from a Navy corpsman embedded with Marines to a SEAL sniper and medic serving in Iraq.

He described early deployments with dark humor: “We called the ship I was on the Trashville. It was so bad, the toilets backed up daily. I slept on the bottom rack — the lowest of the low.”

But it was SEAL training — BUD/S and Hell Week — that forged his mindset: “It’s not about how tough you are. It’s about how much you can suffer and still keep going. The ones who make it are the ones who refuse to quit.”

💀 Facing the United States

Years later, after multiple deployments, Eddie found himself in an unimaginable situation — The United States vs. Eddie Gallagher. He was accused of murder and war crimes in 2019 and faced life imprisonment without parole. The same government he served for over 20 years now sought to make him an example.

“When I was handed a binder that said The United States vs. Eddie Gallagher, that’s when it hit me,” he said. “You realize you’re fighting a monster.”

His wife, Andrea, became his fiercest advocate. “She told me on the phone one day, ‘No one’s coming to save you. We’re the only ones fighting for you — me, your brother, and a handful of friends.’ That’s when I finally dropped to my knees and gave it to God.”

✝️ Surrender and Faith

Eddie describes that moment as the turning point in his life — not just legally, but spiritually:

“I got on my hands and knees and said, ‘God, I can’t do this anymore. Whatever Your will is — guilty or not guilty — I give it all to You.’”

He says his faith realigned everything: “I had put the SEALs at number one, my family number two, and God third. That day, I put God back in the God spot.”

That surrender changed everything. The truth eventually surfaced, and Eddie was acquitted.

🧭 Lessons in Leadership and Loyalty

In a rapid-fire segment of What the Hell Do I Know, JB asked Eddie what lessons from combat still guide him today. His response:

“A bad plan well executed is better than a great plan that’s questioned.”

He also spoke about teamwork, humor, and humility as the real tools of survival: “The most underrated skill in becoming a SEAL is having a sense of humor. You’ve got to laugh through the misery.”

🎧 Beyond the Battle

Today, Eddie Gallagher is focused on faith, family, and freedom. Through his Shoot Me Straight Podcast with David Fields, he continues to share stories of resilience and redemption.

“We started Shoot Me Straight just as a hobby,” Eddie said. “But once we got consistent — one episode a week — it grew. People connect to truth and authenticity.”

JB, BMoney, and Jason reflected on the collaboration between podcasts and how the local creative community is growing:

“It’s not just about interviews — it’s about learning from each other. Cameras, contracts, lighting, faith — all of it matters.”

🙏 Closing Thoughts

Eddie Gallagher’s story isn’t just about clearing his name — it’s about finding peace after the fight. It’s about rediscovering faith when everything else falls apart.

For every listener walking through their own trial, Eddie’s story is a reminder:

“The truth shall set you free.”
